I’m really looking forward to seeing Thursday and Monday group member John Mills new exhibition at  the St John the Baptist Crypt, Broad St, Bristol. I’m pretty open minded about art but do confess to preferring figure drawing that has strong observational qualities which is something that is very important to Jon also. However, by relying on line as opposed to shading Jon’s drawings also have very map like qualities to them and remind me that a drawing, as well as a being about copying the natural world is also an intensely personal record of a human thought process (I want to use the example of Giacometti but Jons work is a little more subdued than this) I haven’t seen the paintings before but John tells me they’re huge.   The private viewing is on Thursday 26th July 2012 from 6pm-9pm.
